Chris McMillan

Dr. Chris McMillan serves as the President of International Training and Equipping Ministries (ITEM), a global organization dedicated to equipping and empowering church leaders in the Majority World to bring gospel transformation to their churches and communities. With over 30 years of ministry experience, Chris brings a deep passion for empowering leaders to his global ministry.

Having traveled to more than 30 countries, Chris has witnessed the beauty of diverse cultures and the transformative power of the gospel. He holds a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (M.A.T.S.) from Liberty University and a Doctor of Educational Ministry (D.Ed.Min.) from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Through his leadership at ITEM, Chris continues to inspire others to embrace God’s call to make His name known among the nations .Chris has been married to his best friend Allison for over 30 years, and together they have a daughter Carissa on the cusp of adulthood and a son Nathan who resides in heaven. The McMillan’s make their home in Gloucester Point, VA.

Jerry Matte

Director of Operations

Jerry has spent 35+ in the business world in both operations and sales management.  He has an MBA in Business Administration and a Master’s of Theology. He has served as a lay person on Men’s leadership teams, an adult sunday school coordinator/leader, and a teacher and preacher of the Word of God. He has been married to Kimberly for 36 years, and they have six children and 17 grandchildren.


Dr. Nathan Chiroma

Field Director for Africa

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Nathan plays a central role in ITEM’s expanding geographic presence and ministry work. As Special Assistant, he serves as a trainer to ITEM trainers, a resource to country coordinators, and has headed both the curriculum development and implementation of ITEM’s mentoring program.
